The latest figures on the number of pedestrian accidents have shown that there has been a dramatic increase in the number of pedestrian injuries due to collisions with vehicles.
According to data, 27% of motorists have stated that they have had to brake suddenly or swerve to avoid a pedestrian with some experts believing that the rise in the use of mobile phones has led to more accidents.
However, some have stated that the increase is due to negligence from drivers who are simply passing the blame. In 2011, there was a 5% increase in serious pedestrian injuries, and that increased by another 2% in 2012, with 25,218 injured in road accidents.
The study found that the most common times for pedestrian traffic accidents were in the late evening and night time when visibility is low, and drivers are tired. Children were also the most likely to be struck by a vehicle.
Thankfully, if you were injured in an accident that was not your fault, you could be entitled to make a personal injury claim.
Making a Personal Injury Claim
If you have been injured in public through no fault of your own, you could be entitled to make a personal injury claim.
When making a personal injury claim, it is vital that you have as much evidence as possible to support your claim. This can range from a medical report and witness statements to photographic evidence to support your claim or CCTV footage.
